Camping at Coffee Bay

The Coffee Bay area is famous for its excellent rock and surf fishing, with alot of deep water fishing as well and gullies and river mouths. The deep sea fishing is also very good with a huge variety of bottom fish and game fish being caught all year round. Other good fishing areas include Mpolompo Point, Umtata River Mouth, Hole in the Wall and Mdumbi.

The magnificent rugged Coffee Bay coastline offers fantastic hiking, northwards towards Umtata Mouth and south towards Hole in the Wall. Local guides are available to show you the best hiking trails in the Coffee Bay area. Our camping site at Coffee Bay is ideally located for hiking and is the starting point of the trails to Hole in the Wall and Umtata Mouth.

Surfing is also good in the area with famous breaks such Mdumbi Point and Umtata Mouth. Be aware that there are no shark nets or lifeguards at Coffee Bay or Mdumbi and the area is known to have a healthy shark population. The Wild Coast also has strong currents and unpredictable weather to be aware of.
