The
Mamoli Beach Camp is situated in southern Mozambique, only about an
hour and a half from the Kosi Bay border. The first 14km beyond the border is on tar road and
thereafter it’s mostly 4x4 or Diff Lock territory.
This beautiful spot is safe,
literally surrounded by wetlands to the west, pristine dune forest to
the north and the south, and the beach and ocean to the east. The wetlands make
much of the land uninhabitable, therefore this area has always been, and still is, very sparsely
populated.
Camping
Camping
The
campsite is situated in the dune forest +-150m from the
beach.
- Campsites are semi-private, well screened off
but not isolated.
- All sites are mostly shady, but there are places
for the charging of solar panels.
- A wash-up area at each campsite, with cold
running water.
- Plug points are available at each campsite, not
for any appliance with an element.
- No braai facilities, please take your own braai
equipment.
- Power to campsites may be off from 10pm to 7am
depending on weather and power consumption.
Although we do not allow guests to run generators,
please expect us to use ours as it is a backup to our solar system.
When usage of our electricity is high, we use our generator to
supplement the power. We do so at times when guests are most likely out
of camp.
When it is cloudy and rainy, we run our generator as much as we need
to, to keep the electricity on. The generator is placed in the
back of a vehicle which is parked about 40 meters away from camp. We do
try to make it as quiet as possible.
- Strictly no dogs or other pets are allowed.
- Nearby ablution consist of 10 individual
bathrooms with hot water showers and flush toilets.
- There will be set times for hot water at the
ablution blocks morning and evening.
- The borehole water in the ablution blocks and at
the campsites is not for drinking as it is not purified and is stained
with tannins from the plants in the wetlands and with iron and other
minerals in the sand.
Please bring
- Mosquito repellent
- Braai Grid
- Food & drinks

these systems are more than adequate, but guests still need to be aware of
their power consumption especially on rainy / cloudy days. In extreme cases of
consecutive bad weather days, our system is designed to make use of a
generator so the houses will always have power. |

small wild cat, mongoose, the rare and endangered Thongaland Red
Squirrel, many birds (including a resident Fish Eagle that hunts along
the shoreline), owls, bushbabies, Vervet monkeys and rare Samango
monkeys. It goes without saying that all foodstuff must be very
securely locked away.
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE MONKEYS OR ANY OTHER CREATURES.
The camp will have as small an environmental footprint as possible, and
guests are asked to take the wellbeing of the environment into account
at all times.
