St Lucia Wetlands Walking TrailsSt Lucia AfricaGet up close and personal on a guided walk in South Africa's First World Heritage Site - The iSimangaliso Wetlands ParkIn addition to the game drive
tour through the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park (formerly known as the
Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park), we also offer a variety of guided St
Lucia Wetland walking trails in the St Lucia Wetlands Park. These
include marine walks along our coastline, where the rocky shores and
their abundance of marine organisms are explored. Dolphins and marine
turtles are often sighted during the St Lucia Wetlands walks, and
though the Loggerhead turtle and Leatherback turtle only leave the
water to lay their eggs in our summer months, many of them are year
round residents, using the shallow reefs as feeding grounds. The St
Lucia Wetlands walking trails provide us with the opportunity to view
turtles in their natural environment, while feeding on the reefs.
Our St Lucia Wetland walking Trails cover areas of dense sub-tropical dune forest and open savannah, with some routes following the shore of Lake St. Lucia and various wetlands. These walks not only give you the chance to see a range of animal species on foot, but also offer incredible views over the lake system and Indian Ocean, a wonderful way to experience this park. Our favourite walk is our combination Bush and Beach walking trail where both these environments are covered, thus providing the chance to fully experience the diversity of the St Lucia Wetlands Park. On this St Lucia walking trail we often see dolphins, turtles, zebra and buffalo, all within an hour of each other. On our bush walks we are accompanied by an experienced armed Zulu ranger to ensure our safety. All St Lucia walking trails can be tailor made to suit everyone, from the intrepid hiker to casual walkers. WHAT TO BRING on a St Lucia Walking Trail: Comfortable shoes, a light waterproof jacket, sun cream, hat, spare T shirt, water and a small rucksack / bag. Our guides always have a set of binoculars with them but if you have your own we recommend that you bring them. Please contact one of our friendly team for more information. Contact
